Destruction:
Soseikouen: A scythe like weapon formed of her own power. It appears to be made out of crystallized magma but in truth it's constructed from the essence of her own being. The bladed spikes are molten hot when the weapon is used in battle, able to cut through flesh and bone like soft butter. She achieved the right to bare this weapon on the day she came unto her full power, pretty much the standard issue for all Daiyoukai who come into their prime. It contains two abilities which when invoked can cause a good deal of instruction. The first is a set of excruciatingly hot waves of flaming heat, able to be aimed and projected at an enemy. This is known as Kasai Kaze. That which is most destructive is Fenikkusu Kasai. Upon release this move generates twin astral Phoenix roughly the size of a Belgian horse. They circle the enemy and create a twisting whirlwind of consuming flame, literally cooking them alive until they are nothing more then a statue of carbon to be blown away by the wind.

Senbon Kasai: A good three dozen senbon needles coated in a combustive oil are discreetly hidden through out her person. Mostly they are sheltered in the quills of empty feathers on her wings. Upon flapping hard enough and flexing muscle tissue she can shoot them out like a deadly barrage of flaming arrows at those near by.

Armor Spikes: On her elbows and shoulders are spiked pieces of armor. The armor itself is forged from the scales of dragons that dwell deep within the cores of volcanos. Those of her family have a pact with the creatures and recieve their sheddings every few years for armor. Should she elbow someone in the face or shoulder rush someone they'd probably end up in a great deal of pain.

Maguma Tama: Dispersed along her armor are what appear to be large amber gems. In reality they are small containers filled with ever bubbling blobs of magma. They are contained only by a thin membrane shaved from the outer scales of the Maguma Dragons. Though not easily broken through if enough force is applied to them, say by the strike of a blade, they'll explode on contact. This usually ends up delivering fast amounts of pain to those stupid enough to attack her.

Powers/Abilities/Talents:
Speed and Agility: Birds in and of themselves are fast creatures. Add to that demonic powers and the strength of a Daiyoukai then those abilities are doubled nearly a hundred fold. Human eyes will be lucky to see her as she runs passed, usually just a passing breeze to mortals. To lesser Youkai she is a distinct red blurr with little detail. Now to other Daiyoukai she would be fast, even by their standards. To top things off she's a slippery one, able to dodge, duck, and dance out of the way of most obstacles.

Strength: Maiko was not bestowed with endless limits of vast strength but she is strong enough. She cannot lift mountains or shift tectonic plates but she can make her shots count. Precision is the key for her, using her speed and agility to stay out of the way of her opponents attacks before going in for the kill when an opening is presented. This way her strength is not wasted and she can crush her enemies with decisive force.

Flight: As a Phoenix Youkai she can fly. The two red-gold wings attached to her back should be proof enough of that. Flapping may be involved but she makes it look effortless and graceful, soaring like the bird of prey that she is when in the sky. She can sustain herself in such a way for at least three days or so before becoming overtly exhausted. After which she would need to rest for a while.

Pyrokinesis: Be it a small candle flame or a whirling vortex of hellish proportions Maiko can control it. She can even create fire from the kenetic energy in the air. The larger the manipulation the more taxing however. Huge amounts of destructive pyro-force drain her and she can usually only control a few before things get out of her hands. It is dangerous for her to do such large scale things because they can end in disaster. In the end it is that reason why she refrains from using her full strength in this area, for though she may be a bird of rebirth the life she extinguishes by loss of control can never come back.

Pyro Immunity: Born of flame itself she is immune to all heat based attacks, be it lightning or sticking her hand over a camp fire to freak out her companions.

Avian Communication: Queerly enough Mai has the unique ability to telepathically speak to most species of birds. They have to be within a certain radius to her person to do such a thing though. After a mile or so she can no longer reach the minds of the feathery creatures she wishes to speak to. This is a very useful ability when wishing to scout things out or have intelligence gathered about someone.

Eyesight: Hers is that of a Hawk magnified by a hundred. The littlest detail can come into focus if she contracts the muscles in her eyes enough. So far she has been able to spot an ant crawling up the trunk of a pine tree a pine tree a mile and a half away from her person through thick foliage. However her eyesight isn't always this acute. She can actually telescope her eyes to degrees so she doesn't get overwhelmed by everything around her. On the topic of darkness, like all Youkai, she can see as if it was clear as day.

Sense of Smell: Though not as strong as an Inu Youkai her nose is delicate enough that she can sense things accurately. If someone is lying or their emotions shift the yasha can tell. Infection and other sicknesses she can pick up too but the radius of this sense only reaches about three or four hundred yards around her. Any farther and things gradually start dulling unless brought in by the wind.

Hearing: As a bird of prey at heart Mai can hear a field mouse sneeze in the middle of a snow storm, thus how acute her hearing is.

Claws: Razor sharp her claws are able to rend flesh from bone. They've no special property other then being like portable Ginsu knives.

Fangs: Like nearly every Youkai in existence the female has fangs. Hers are petite and dainty seeing as how she is of the fairer sex but no less deadly. Though not poisonous her bite is slightly toxic if she so wishes it. Infectious bacteria can be injected through her fangs into a wound, causing it to fester if left unattended.

Fenikkusu Tears: Legend says that the tears of a Phoenix can heal grievous wounds and cure poison to an extent. For the most part that is true. However if someone is on the verge of death there is nothing that can be done. Wounds may close and poison can be removed but if too much blood is lost or too much tissue eaten away then one might as well start pushing up daisies.

True form: Mai, like all Daiyoukai, have the ability to transform into a more human form and into their true form at will. Hers is that of a large Phoenix, the mystical bird of Rebirth itself. She's nearly as large as a medium sized air plane in the more futuristic world. Her wing span is huge and abilities slightly more devastating in this form. The flames that come from her in the body she was born in are so hot that they are blue. However at will she can temper them so they are not so flesh sizzling in their intensity, though she still retains the pale azure coloring.

Attitude Check:
~Quirky and Friendly~

Upon first meeting the female or just generally observing her they would notice she is the friendly sort. Not adverse to getting to know new people or just chatting with strangers she’s an open minded individual. Sometimes when someone gets her in the right mood they’d notice her capability to completely switch from one conversation to the next, often picking up where she left off. In fact Maiko has stopped mid sentence a few times, talked about something else, then finished her sentence from earlier before continuing where she left off. It can be a little confusing and mind boggling at times but she still manages to come off as pleasant.

~Serious and Attentive~

When not confusing the population of Japan with her excitable chatter the female is often working on some project or another. Sometimes it’s business, other times it can be rough negotiations with the lesser lords of her land, or even something as simple as making paper cranes for pups. In any case at these times she’s highly focused on the task at hand, eyes glued to whatever she is doing. Whole heartedly this one applies herself to nearly everything she’s tasked with. If it isn’t dealing with obnoxious vassels Mai usually gets it done quickly and efficiently.

On the topic of somewhat sticky situations she‘s level headed. She’s the diplomatic sort when it comes to petty squabbles or territorial pissing contests. Often she has to play the hapless female bit to get the more dense of the male population to listen but one works with what they have. On the rare occasion Mai will bark an order at a particularly stubborn individual. This is the only time she’ll eyeball someone with her ‘shaddup and listen’ look. Surprisingly enough it’s worked on people she thought it wouldn’t, though that’s rare.

~Angry and Annoyed~

Want to see one Bi-polar Phoenix Youkai? Annoy Mai and you’ve got that. Quite scary when irritated she’s not one to trifle with. See she has the whole ‘creepy WTF?!’ look patented. The girl does this twisted head tilt and grins like a demented Cheshire cat while laughing like a drugged mental patient. A crazed look enters her eyes and she continues this little act until the person goes away. After they leave her alone she sobers quickly and usually gets a good laugh out of the whole thing.

Now on the other hand if someone makes her angry then they should expect to enjoy vast amounts of humiliation or pain for the next few phases of the moon. Depending on the extent of her ire she’ll either make someone feel about as tall as an amoeba or make them scream in agony until their throat bleeds. Usually she just tends to get back at those who irritate her in prankish ways. Pain is reserved for those who transgress beyond redemption.

~Passionate and Intelligent~

If there is one thing that can make her breathless with enthusiasm it’s her love of art. More then once she’s lost herself in a flurry of passion filled strokes with a paint brush. It’s one of the few things in life she takes joy in after all. With eyes focused keenly on the subject at hand she can spend hours at an easel. However lately she’s not found the time to lose herself so completely in her hobby.

The only other way besides the obvious way to get her in such a state of complete joy would to get her into a debate. If she finds a reason or something in general to defend or speak about that’s worth merit she’ll match wits with the best of them. Though not the smartest creature in the world she’s bright enough to figure out most complexities to a problematic question and answer it with enthusiastic gusto. But such instances are few and far between. More often then not she doesn’t find those with enough intelligence to engage her.

~Fears and Weakness~

One thing that the youkai can not tolerate is the sight of Vomit. To be blunt she’s a Sympathy Spewer. In other words if something starts hurling up chunks then she’ll be right there with them hacking up her lunch. It’s one of her greatest weaknesses. Even if someone starts gagging of hocks up a rather nasty bit of phlegm she’ll start retching. Sometimes it can be comical but mostly it’s not something pleasant.

Everybody has some type of Phobia too and Mai isn’t exempt from this. Her fear is that of permanent solitude. She is a loving creature at heart and it would break her if she did not have those to hold close. They say that the first Phoenix was born out of the warmth and passionate love that Amaterasu had for her husband. Thus her one great weakness, the true destruction of her being lay within the hands of the enemy who can isolate her completely.
