A large force of men marched up the lone mountain path that lead to the Taijaya's village. Their red and black armor combined with their masks showed them for what they were, an invasion force by the Lord of the North, Bayushi Shoju. This was so important to him that he himself was at the head of the army, leading it to the ruined village. Though he was the Lord of the North, even by demon standing, he was a human, but not one to be underestimated, and now he was annexing this deserted little village. Once his force had reached the village he cast his gaze over it. Yes, he thought, this would be salvageable, though his guidance of course and for the good of the Empire.
Soshi Uidori, Shoju's voice spoke out to the young mystic at his side. Take your scholars and mystics and comb these ruins for anything that can be found. I want to see the secrets of this dead village resurrected into the Clan. After he said that the young woman he was speaking to turned and took a group of similarly dressed men and women into the village. As for Shoju himself he turned so that he faced the several hundred men he had brought with him, most were simple Ashigaru, but there were Samurai mixed in to lead them, but they were all outfitted the same making it impossible to tell who was who. Call out so that all his men could hear him, Shoju said,The rest of you secure this village. I want to see our banners flying high over these once proud village. You need to make it proud once more, and proud it shall be. Under the name of Bayushi. Our name." Once he said that the men filed into the village and got to work.
After nearly an hour the proud banner of the Bayushi Clan, a red Scorpion within a red circle on a black banner was flying high above the walls, which were being repaired by the Ashigaru that he had brought. As soon as the walls were repaired they would be manned, defense is important at this point, it would be too easy to eject them at this point and that could not be allowed to happen. Shoju himself enter the village with the intent to find the former leader's hut.

Rumors. They should have been nothing more than that. The talk among humans, youkai, and everything in between was that of a new lord in the northern lands. It was a haunting thought, some that terrified him so much, that it made him want to puke. He hadn't felt this way in years. Although years ago, there was no threat to these lands, there was no lord or anything. For the majority of the part, it was peaceful. Now... Now he and the last of his own kid were at risk, risk of being destroyed without a single question.
He'd paid close attention to these rumors, taking in every little detail and trying to separate fact from fiction. This journey had recently led him to the outside base of the old demon slayer village. He'd heard about how just about everyone was murdered here a while back. A tragic thing of course but that wasn't his concern. He'd seen the last of the villagers wiped out when he and Sakura had come here not to long ago, searching for her sensei so she could continue to train him. They'd found him dead... unknown causes.
His red violet gaze locked onto the village. It was being repaired at a quick rate as he took notice to the banner that now hung high. 'Disgusting,' he thought venomously to himself. 'Taking a place like this without question.' His fangs bared but he held back a growl. Sakura would want to protect and defend what was left of the village, and he knew that. It was something else that drove him to try and protect what was left of the northern land. He needed to make sure that the Shuurai shinobi wouldn't cease to exist at anytime.
He stayed here, hidden in the foliage of a tall tree. He could peer down into the village, but others would have been able to see him if they looked up. 'There's so many of them.' He could tell there were hundreds just by looking. There was no way that he would be able to take down such an army on his own. He had back up, maybe from two sources: Oriel and Maikeru. Although there was always Sakura who may find out soon, and maybe even some other demon slayers. 'I don't like the looks of this.''

"Revlis." Usagi said, landing behind him. The only reason he could even do it was because of the power of the shard he had. "You know these people?" Usagi wore samurai's armor bearing a red scorpion on it, and around his neck was the shard. "Not that I know you well, but based on your interest in them. I'd say you'd want to know this." Usagi said ditching the armor. They had demon dogs to tell he was with Revlis so he might as well ditch it. "They plan to eradicate the Shuurai soon. They see them as one of the larger threats." Usagi ducked down next to him, seeing as he'd be caught soon if he didn't. "There's a secret pathway that I use if you want to get in. It's underground so it'll hide your scent."

When he'd first heard someone say his name, he was about ready to turn around and attack, but stopped himself. He knew that he'd heard that voice somewhere before, there was no doubt in that. He turned his head back slightly to see Usagi there, a bit shocked that it was him. How odd, the rabbit youkai being here at a time like this. They weren't really the best of friends, even if you could call them friends at all. They'd just me at the Hot Springs a while back with where he'd first went to investigate Kyr.
His ears twitched slightly as he took the time to actually listen to Usagi's words. He blinked. "I knew it," he growled under his breath when the youkai had mentioned the Shuurai shinobi. Although for all he knew, this rabbit could be playing with him. He was so wrapped up with saving his people though that he'd take any help, trust to easily. An electric spark could be seen, coming off of his frame, as the anger ran through his system, his blood boiling. He turned his red violet gaze to Usagi again. "Take me to this pathway."

Usagi stood up and walked to the side of Revlis. He kicked the ground sending a shockwave towards the base of the wall. The wave stopped at the base of the wall. "Tsuuro no Chikyuu, kaihou!*" In immediate response, a`` pathway opened. It was a single pathway that split four ways in the middle with a spiral tunnel leading straight up in the center. "There you go. Right next to you. I call the jewel shard if they have one." Usagi headed in. There was no point in waiting. Maybe they had a shard. He was there for about an hour, and the guard he ambushed was naked in the woods. So he wasn't positive as to whether they had one or not. They probably did though. Seeing as they were so powerful. [Tunnel of earth, open]*

He gracefully leaped back down from the tree that he was in, landing beside the rabbit youkai. To be honest, Revlis wasn't sure why this demon wanted to help him, especially since he was only a hanyou. We're demons and stuff supposed to hate him for what he was? Oh wait yeah, there was Maikeru who'd never run from him. If anything, that damn tiger youkai was stalking him everywhere. He was lucky when he was able to get away from Mikey because those moments were rare and a relief. He could only handle so much at a time.
Shifting his violet red gaze to the pathway, he looked on carefully. His ears twitched to Usagi's statement on jewel shards. "You can have the whole Shikon no Tama if it's here. I have no need for anything like that. It's weak." Even though it was said to double a demon's power, he'd never cared much for it. He'd beaten plenty of demons that had these jewel shards. Taking one step forward, he was no following the rabbit youkai into the path. There was no turning back on this mission here now. He had to finish it now.

A man ran up to Lord Bayushi, though his face was covered by a mask, but Shoju could tell that he was here under a matter of urgency. The fact that he could tell this indicated to Shoju that he was Ashugari not samurai, but that didn't matter if the information was vital. "My Lord, one of you men was found in the woods unconscious and we have intruders using some kind of passage near the outer wall."
After this was said Shoju narrowed his eyes and said, "Tell me your name."
The soldier was clearly nervous but he answered without hesitation,"I am Kira Bayushi m'lord. A simple peasant in your service."
With a slight smile Lord Shoju handed the a symbol then said, "No Kira, you are no longer a mere peasant, I appreciate those who have the courage to inform me of ill news. I am elevating you to be my messanger. Return to you previous commander and inform him of this, as well as for him to gather some of his forces and met me at this tunnel. Now go." After he said that the man ran off and Shoju turned to face a small group of samurai that were protecting him. He didn't need to even speak to them, as they knew their duties and would follow him.
Shoju then turned and headed off toward the tunnel, with the five samurai house guard in his wake, ready to die to protect their lord. They were at the tunnel within minutes and then, they were stepping into the tunnel, seeking out the two intruders who dared to invade Shoju's newly acquired land.

It didn't seem like they were in the tunnel for that long. Even if it was dark in the cave, he wasn't phased much by this. He could still see well at night thanks to the youkai blood he harbored. This was a dire matter that needed to be taken care of, something that was a threat. If he ever came across this ruler, he was sure that he could take his head. Everything in his body told him that he should, to protect his people from the invasion of the northern lands. It wasn't a mission now but life and death.
Suddenly, the wind brought in scents from the outside, he could tell that it wasn't a companion but more of a threat. It reeked of these Bayushi people, and he was sure of that. "Usagi, wait," he tried to calmly say to his new companion. Although his voice betrayed him and showed he was on edge. He stopped in his tracks and closed his eyes, trying to concentrate. Defiantly more than one. Five? Six? It had to be six. He shifted his frame some so he could look back in the direction that Shoju and his samurai were coming from.
His red violet orbs couldn't make out anything yet, but the scents were getting stronger. He stopped himself from growling. They would surly be cornered now with six coming from their outside direction, and then the people in the face. White tipped black ears pinned back against his skull, not liking the situation that they had gotten themselves into now. Well, if he had to then he could maybe paralyzed someone. Simple warriors, guards, peasants, or anything else weren't worth killing. Just the lord, because that would be when the empire would fall, that was what he hoped. So then, it just became a waiting game.

Usagi stopped and stepped towards the wall. He knew Revlis was the better fighter. Heck anyone could tell that Revlis was the better fighter. He was a rabbit and he was a dog. No question there. "I can hear them. Should we turn around?" There was a bit of urgency in his voice. Being a nature demon, he was pretty weak as far as things went. Weak demon, maybe even on hanyou level if you wanted to stretch it. The Shikon shard evened things out quite a bit. Though it didn't help much for his confidence. "I could put the weak humans to sleep. Though there's one, maybe two, that will easily resist it." The aura of this guy wan unbelievable. It wasn't exactly uber strong, but it was amazing for a human. It surpassed hanyou level. Though the second was just a guess, probably an officer.

The five house guards that accompanied Bayushi were his personal guards, though in terms of power they had nothing on him, between the ancestral weaponry on his belt, and his shadow brands he surpassed any human to the point he may not have even needed the guards, but he was a Bayushi and paranoia was the name of the game. They guards followed him, nameless and near faceless thanks to their identical masks and uniforms, the leader stronger than the others but indistinguishable from them.
As they walked down the tunnel Lord Shoju called out before he was seen, in order to give them a chance to surrender, it was not something he would normally do, but this was an unusual situation, and they had information he wanted, such as the nature of this tunnel, and thus didn't want to risk killing them in a fight. Calling out, "I will give the two of you one chance, and one chance only, present yourselves before me peacefully and explain your trespass, or face the consequences of violating the sovereign land of the Bayushi." Once he finished speaking he held his ground, and waited, though how long he would wait would be anyone's guess.

When Usagi spoke to him, he could recall on the urgency in the rabbit youkai's voice? Should they turn around? That was out of the question now. His ears flickered to rabbit's second statement then. He could put some of them to sleep? Anything would honestly be helpful and would cause less death. He didn't want to get blood on him right now anyway. Though, unlike many other hanyou, he didn't care to take a human life, being raised by youkai. Maybe they made him stronger in some sort of sense, he was not sure right now.
Then the smell of the people had gotten closer, but it stopped. He couldn't hear footsteps anymore either. They weren't right in their faces, but it seemed as if both parties were in attacking range. He listened quietly as the man called out. He plastered that to be the voice to control the heavy aura that he'd sensed. One chance, hmm? So their options were to come out peacefully or to suffer consequences. A smirk crossed his face and he wanted to laugh out. There would be no peace here, and he knew that already. "We fight," he said to Usagi then.
"Consequences? You'll be the one suffering consequences. You Bayari or whatever you call yourselves have a lot of never coming out here and trying to claim this village and even this land as your own," he called back. "I won't let it happen!" With that, a hinotama fire ball appeared in his hand, and he threw it back to where he'd heard the voice come from. As it approached, the flames spread out, growing bigger. The flames themselves couldn't harm anyone because he hadn't put that sort of power into the flame. The heat could be felt though. It was more of a test attack, to see how strong these guys really were.

"My my, aren't we eager." Usagi said, watching the fire go by. He could tell it was a test shot. "We could have negotiated. It would have been easier than fighting. We could maybe even join them." Usagi pulled out his rod and whispered in a low tone. "To find out their motives." Usagi pondered if the Bayusi could here him. He could certainly hear them. Each and every word and footstep, and any other sound that one could hear. Hopefully Revlis would see the obvious choice. Diplomacy was the best idea. "I can claim to live here. Since I have. At one point at least. My scent still lingers so it's valid." Usagi morphed the rod into greaves. It didn't matter either way. Though not fighting was more favorable.

A blast of flame roared itself at Shoju, who instinctively rose his forearm in front of his face for protection even though one of his guards threw himself in front of Shoju to protect him, but in the end it was pointless since the flames didn't burn. Lowering his forearm Shoju narrowed his eyes slightly and placed his hand on the pommel of his ancestral blade, Itsuwari. Once he had done that he readied himself for a fight and spoke in code that most wouldn't understand but his guards would, <I want them alive.> After he said that their was nothing left to say, and then he moved foward in a charge.
As he approached the two his right hand darted out casting down a small glass orb which has powdered magnesium which filled the area with a burst of light that lasted long enough that Shoju could see his surroundings clear enough that he targeted the dog hanyou since he appeared to be the bigger threat. With a lightning fast flash of his arm his sword was pulled out intending to strike the hanyou down.

Revlis had heard what the rabbit youkai had to say and he couldn't help but get a smirk back on his face. He didn't even look back at Usagi when he spoke though. "I don't care what their motives are, they're a threat to my village and that's all-." He stopped in mid sentence when he heard the Bayushi say something but to be honest, he couldn't understand a single bit of it. Were they even Japanese? He couldn't tell anymore. "To late now," he said at the last second to Usagi when he heard the footsteps racing to him now.
The sudden light had caught Revlis off guard and slowed his reaction when Shoju had come at him with the blade. He took a leap back, but the sword grazed his clothing, cutting his T-Shirt and his jacket, almost hitting his skin. Now things had really gotten interesting. He could feel the blood running through his veins from the sudden adrenaline rush that had hit him. Fighting was a passion for him and he couldn't see himself having a life without it. It was almost like a blessing because it normally gave him a challenge which he always searched for.
He now had his excited red violet orbs locked onto his new target. Electricity sparked around him, giving off his place, but he didn't care. If they were in the daylight then his opponent would have been able to see him anyway. This was no different. "Nice try," he mocked. With a single swift motion of his arm, he lashed his arm out before him. Within that same instant, the electricity around his body raced to his hand and formed into senbon made from the lighting in his hand. The electric senbon then went flying for their new found target, the new lord.

Let's all have a perfect day! - - - - - - - Usagi walked casually past the two fighters as if he were on a leisurely walk. All he needed was a cane to spin and a top hat to raise. He wrapped the soldiers in poisonous vines that put them to sleep. "Hmm... Well that was rather boring." he said to himself. He took their swords and tested them. They had to be worth something. He seated himself on a chair of roots and examined the swords. "Revlis, I assume you're gonna lone wolf this one?" he asked, knowing full well the answer. He hadn't even know the dude for two days, and he already could tell he liked to fight alone. He ditched the swords he could snap with his hand and kept two of them. One even looked like it could stand an enchantment. "If you need help, just say so. I don't plan on going anywhere."
