Flowers Are the Things We Know (Rin)

Sesshoumaru stood idly by, hidden from the view of the inn by a tree. He had little patience to be here, but Rin had insisted on coming. Some nonsense about taking a relaxing bath. He did not even know why he came in the first place. There was only one young human girl that could ever convince this great inu taiyoukai to accompany her to a human infested hot springs. Though, he could have just left Jaken in charge of Rin. But, then again, his annoying vassal could barely handle her, and he would probably end up getting involved anyway.

He leaned against the trunk of the tree, crossing his arms and tucking his hands into his sleeves. A sudden thought occurred to him and he became annoyed. He dropped his arms to his sides with a frown. He had seen his idiot half-brother assume such a pose, and did not want to appear anything like him.

Sesshoumaru listened to the sounds of the inn and the hot springs, his sensitive ears picking up almost every outside noise, muffled voices, splashing water, and the insignificant night creatures that dared to utter a chirp in his intimidating presence. Slightly annoyed at the random sounds that meant nothing to him, he tuned them out, concentrating on finding Rin. She was all that really mattered, right now.

He suddenly found it hard to focus on certain sounds, for he felt as if he were being watched. His golden gaze shifted around, looking for the spy. All he could scent was human. Out of the corner of his eye, he saw movement. He slowly turned his cold, golden gaze toward the source. To his growing annoyance, he saw two human women, dressed in only a white robe, staring at him. Once they saw that they had his attention, the females began to giggle and waving at him to come join them in the hot springs. When Sesshoumaru made no reaction, and only glared at them coolly, they were a bit more hesitant in their smiles and winks, but they still seemed to want him to join them, though they were too afraid to approach him. Humans were such odd creatures.

Rin had achieved her goal, the hotsprings where a rareity for her when trailing with Her lord Sesshomeru, he had chosen to wait for her and not leave Jakan. Rin striped off her Kimono and dipped her foot in the steamy water. It felt good. She soon found her whole body in the water, it felt good. Rin sighed happily, she heard people and water, and some girls giggling. Rin, realized she wasn't the only human girl here, and suddenly wanted to get out. Feeling self-concous right now, she Scooted over into a corner and sighed as the girls passed her, making their way to the men's side. Rin let her hair get wet and sat there for a few moments, before deciding to get out. As she moved to get her clothes a sudden sound in the bushes had gotten her attention, the sight of brown hair made her scream The brown hair, poped up and flinched. Get away you perv!!! Rin shouted at him, grabbing rocks to throw at him, while scrambling to his her naked body from the peeping ton with her kimono. Rin wante to call for her lOrd, but knew he had heard he scream.

Sesshoumaru turned her attention away from the giggling humans, ignoring their presence completely. He had no time to deal with their foolish games. Well, really, he was not doing much at the moment. He was only here because of Rin.

He picked up the sound of screaming and Rin's distinct voice. He was suddenly alert and on guard. What had happened now? Could no one leave him in peace? It was either fights with his half-brother, annoying events he had to see to in his lands, fixing Jaken's mistakes, or attending to his human charge.

Swiftly, he moved away from the tree to locate Rin, using his sensitive nose to track her. Sesshoumaru quickly spotted her and went to her aid. He stood in front of her with his back to her, giving her some protection from curious eyes. He glared out at where Rin had been aiming rocks at, his hand on the Bakusaiga.

"Who's there?" Sesshoumaru growled. He was already annoyed enough as it was, he did not need another to further his aggravation.

Rin soon found sesshomaru sheilding her. With the operuntuinty she put her orange and white checkerboard kimono on. It was a longer version of the one her lord had given her when she firststarted tracking with him. That was seven or eight years ago. And tin had grown up in many ways. She head her lords words and waited to hear the perv's reaction. A few minutes of silence was soon broken " how dare you foul demon! Kidnapping young beautiful imncoccwnt women! I am hoshiru. And you will let her go!" Ron blinker a couple times. Was he mental? She wasn't being held hostange. And shecwasnt that innoceent. I mean she still had childish actions here. And there, rin looked at sesshomaru to see what he'd say " I have been following you. I shall let you live for you have not harmed her in any way. " he tried to peer over the dog demon " my fair lady. Do not fret once I have saved you. You can come back to villige and we will be happy!!" rin almost gagged. Was he sirous? She didn't want that! Well....rin did have a crush on someone. And if he asked her to be his wife, shed agree withought another thought, but rin knew it'd never happen. He'd never see her any diffrent then he was seeing her.

Sesshoumaru heard the rustle of cloth, knowing that Rin had put her clothes back on. He may be a youkai, but he knew that human women never liked to be looked at while naked. Deeming it safe for him to do so, he turned his head to look behind him at her. "Have you been harmed?" he asked Rin, breifly ignoring the human in the bushes. Sesshoumaru did not see that she was hurt in anyway, but he had to ask to make sure, too protective not to. His cold gaze returned to the offending human, hearing him speak.

What was this human babbling about? How absurd. Sesshoumaru had better things to do than hold a human girl against her will. He had little use to do so, anyway. Rin followed him with no hesitation.

Such accusations held no merit. This pathetic human who dared to challenge him both amused and annoyed him. He felt no threat from him, so relaxed his grip on his blade, his own strength would have been more than enough to defeat such a nusiance.

"Are you even aware of who it is that you speak to, human?" Sesshoumaru asked in his calm, cold voice.

Rin looked at sesshomaru and nodded " I am unharmed M' lord." rin replied she heard the boy speak and she turned to face him " I not know of you youki. But have no need to. You are a vile creature! Let the Madian go!" he yelled taking steps closer to rin. Who glared at him " who the he k do you think you are? I am not going with you creeper. I am not yours bad never will be." she yelled at him. Hoshi kept coming closer and laughed " you won't say that on our weeding night." all traces of rins bravery fell away at the moment. He was stalking her and he was not joking. Rin looked at her lord for help. She clung to his arm desprate for saftey, comfert.

Vile creature? He could say the same, as well. Sesshoumaru regarded this insect of a human with disdain. He tensed when this annoying human implied to take Rin from him and bed her. Oh, no. Sesshoumaru would have none of that, especially since he knew that Rin did not want to go anywhere with this stalker. If Rin had not been holding on to him, he would have lunged at the human called Hoshiru for making such remarks and ripped his throat out.

"You will not touch her," Sesshoumaru said, glaring, the growl in his voice returning. He moved slightly, making sure that he was directly between the human and Rin. "This Lord Sesshoumaru will not allow it," he said protectively, flexing his hand and curving his fingers into claws.

Rin let go of sesshomeru as he placed himself bewteen her and hoshiru. She saw that her lord was ready to kill him if need be. That thought somehow made her happy. She did not wish death on anyone, but right now she did. Hoshiru proceed to follow rin. He looked up at the dog demon and sighed "alright.I'll back off." he surrendered and walked past rin, then grabed her arm and kissed her lips. Rin scrambled to get away and kneed him hard. Hoshiru just smirked. "so you love this demon and he you. How sweet." he glared at sesshomeru and laughed " have fun bedding her" and with that've tried to make leave. Rin blushed a deep red at the comment of her lord and her.

Sesshoumaru watched the human carefully. His face remained placid when the human touched Rin. His Rin. Though she was just a human that kept company with him, he still considered her as his. And even touching that which belonged to this great youkai angered him greatly. That was all that it took for his patience to completely leave him.

In the blink of an eye, Sesshoumaru was in front of Hoshiru. Even quicker was his hand as he grabbed the human by the throat and slammed him to the ground, hard. "Where do you think you're going, human. I'm not done with you, yet" Sesshoumaru growled, raising the hand that was not around Hoshiru's neck and turning it's aura green.

Rin looked at sesshomeru as he slameed hoshiru to the ground and grabbed his throght. Run stood by and watched him as he struggled. Hosheiru's eyes wet wide and he smirked at the dog demon as he had found his achillis heel. He just spoke, or tried to do so. " So, this is how I die. Well, at lest I got to see a pretty sight before hand." he turned his Hrad to look at Rin and winked " bye bye swet heart." rin winced as she knew what her lord would do next.

He was not sure what annoyed him more, this human touching Rin, or this human saying a farewell to Rin. The nerve. Here he was, about to die, and all he could think about was to say a few final words to someone that he could never have, and that, Sesshoumaru would make sure of.

To further his disgust, Sesshoumaru wondered why he, a taiyoukai, was wasting his energy to kill a pathetic human. For some reason, this would seem that he had sunk low enough to stoop to Jaken's level. He gritted his teeth at the thought, though he kept his expression stoic. That was the last thing he wanted to do. He had already mimicked his half-brother once, while here at the hot springs, he did not want to imitate another idiot. Besides, killing this pathetic creature would draw too much attention to himself, and would probably lead to more pointless deaths. Though, this death would be far from pointless.

The green glow faded from his hand. Sesshoumaru lifted the human from the ground, still holding his throat, and said, "I don't have time for you." Sesshoumaru tossed the human aside as if he were garbage, throwing him into a nearby tree trunk, hard enough to perhaps break a few bones here or there, or give him a concussion. He was not worthy enough to die by this great Lord's hands.

Rin saw sesshomeru throw hosiru across the land and he landed into s tree. The sounds of bones braking made her flinch a bit. She looked over at her lord and smiled, giving him a hug " thank you lord sesshomeru. Thank you." Rin said happily as her stalker was barley able to stand up thanks to a sprained ankle and a broken hand. Rin barley noticed that in the chaos of everything her kimono had slipped, it still was on herbody but her upper chest was able to be sen quiet a bit. Rin glared at the man hoping he'd never do that again. And watched him limp away.

Sesshoumaru calmly watched the human leave, annoyance and disgust apparent on his face. If he ever saw that disgrace again, it was likely that he would kill him. He could care less if that human attempted to claim some other female to bed, as long as it was not Rin.

He felt Rin touch him, and speak. He looked down at her and paused for a moment, then looked away.

"Rin, fix your kimono, it's slipping," he said nonchalantly. He seemed unfazed by Rin's immodesty, though, his expression remaining placid. It was not like he had not seen the bare skin of other human women. It was just, that it was Rin, and he knew that she was sensitive to such things. And he did not want to be seen as a pervert by her, for he was not.

Rin did as her lord told her to, a embressed blush came to her cheeks. "Sorry." she mumbled while fixing it. Tying the obi into place, she turned to look at him. His golden orbs were not focused on her at this moment. "sesshomeru.." rin paused almost foregetting the honorifc at the end "sama. Is it true what he said? About me and-" rin wanted to countinue and be brave, but her emotions where tugging at her. She wanted to tell him how she felt. But was scared that he'd reject her silly human emotions. "you need not answer that. M'lord Tia but a stupid thing to ask. And I have-have wasted you time. Let's go and find Jaken." she could feel her eyes filling with tears and wiped away the few that fell. He'd never return her feelings. Never. And even if he did, shed get old and die. Bit if she could find the Shiloh no tama... Maybe she could make herself a full demon! Then maybe he'd return her feelings.

The taiyoukai returned his full attention to Rin. For some reason he did not quite understand, she was becoming emotional. Over what? Something that idiot human had said? He looked at her for a moment longer before raising his hand and brushing away one of her tears, a softness in his eyes that was only reserved for this one human girl.

Though, it did not show on his face, he was a little worried. For the years they had traveled together, he had not known Rin to cry unless something truly upset her, which was a very rare occurrence.

"You shouldn't shed tears, Rin, I prefer your smile," Sesshoumaru said. He was quite oblivious to the fact that he was the true reason for her tears.
