It was rather clear that he was taken off guard when Izayoi had grabbed his wrist and had him sit down. His first reaction was to attack just because of his past, you never knew when some was trying to hurt you. Yet, he stopped himself in that fraction of a second that he head realized that it was his mother. Never in his life would he even think about hurting her. Growing up, she had been the only one to understand him, trust him, and comfort him when he had needed it. She was the only one with him.
His ears quickly flashed forward and he looked at his mother, a shock in his eyes. After some time, he had lost that feeling of what it was like to have a mother. He'd forgotten how safe her felt around her, how she had protected him. Though her question struck him hard, and he refused to lock his gaze with her or the great dog demon. This wasn't something that he was comfortable talking about with either of them. It was something that he'd let only himself known so he could remember the hurt and the pain.
Sadly, right now, it was obvious that he wasn't going to get away from them. If his mother didn't stop him, his father surely could with his speed. He was sure that he would too if Izayoi just even looked at him as if asking him to do so. Who was she and what happened? Why couldn't it have just been a who was she sort of question. Or maybe just the what happened so that he wouldn't have to pill out their names.Taking a breath, he sighed heavily, finally giving in to her demands.
"Kikyou," he said. "She protected the Shikon no Tama fifty years ago. I tried to take it to become a full demon." He stopped there, leaving out many details. Though all at the same time, when he had stated why he'd taken the jewel, he felt that he had betrayed his human mother. He'd wanted to rid that humans side of him, so he wouldn't have these emotions. To become a full demon for the power, only going as low to Sesshoumaru's level. That was the reason why his half brother had wanted the Tetsusaiga badly.

Izayoi blinked at that for a moment. Part of her felt somewhat hurt that he obviously resented his humanblood enough towant to rid himself of it forever. On the other hand though she understood his decision. He had been unwanted in both worlds that he had been a part of. He had seen her die at a young age, showing him that humans were so much more vunerable than youkai's. He no longer had any human family or friends, but had a halfbrother who was a full demon. To her in a way it made sense he would choose that side.
But of course this wasn't all. Right now he was holding back on the real issue...whatever it was that happend between him and this Kikyo. it was certainly more than just about stealing a jewel. And there was no way she would let him off the hook that easy.
"And?"
Izayoi replied.
"I'm waiting for the rest"
With a most determind expression, she slipped her hands into her sleeves, making it obvious she was waiting and not letting off till he told her all.

Of course she would be waiting. He looked back at his mother again, this time now seeing her arms in the sleeves of her kimono. He'd picked up the same habit from her as a child. Today, he himself still used to same gesture to express the very same emotion. It was funny how he'd gotten so many human traits from his mother and yet he took on the appearance of a demon. That was aside from the puppy dog that ears that were set upon his head. Not to lucky for him, everyone liked to touch them.
Might as well go ahead and tell her the rest. "We were turned against each other by Naraku. He'd taken on my form and had attacked her. The wound led to her death the same day she pinned me to the tree." He was sure that there, everyone would think that would be the end of his little tragic love story but his mother would have found a way to get the rest out of him. "Fifty years later, my curse was broken by a girl from the future." How crazy did that sound? People didn't time travel here.
"Her name is Kagome. Kagome had the Shikon no Tama in her body, she's Kikyou's reincarnation. She shattered the jewel into many shards. We're looking for them now," he tried to explain. "Not to long after it, even after I got Tetsusaiga-" He looked back at his father then. InuYasha wondered if his old man knew something like that would happen, and that's why he was given the blade. "...Kikyou was revived by a demon to find the shards of the jewel. Her body is made of clay, bones, and ash but she still has her memory."

"And now you don't know which girl you love?"
Though it was worded as a question, it wasn't really one. It seemed even after all this time, izayoi could read her son rather well. But she knew little about those girls yet. However there was something that seemed strange to her.
"Tell me, InuYasha. This Kikyo was the guardian of the Jewel, right? I would assume she was a powerful priestess to be choosen for such a task. How can a priestess, trained in knowledge about demons and their workings, not know that there are shapeshifting demons out there?"

*Taisho sat there patiently as he watched his son describe in detail the women that he had fallen in love with during his absence. His son had grown up without the role of a father in his life, but that is what had made his son strong and fierce he truly deserved to wield the tetsaiga. He had the potential to master it much like Taisho had done, perhaps when he he became a better swordsman he would show him the final technique that the Tetsaiga could unleash.*
*Izayoi was a great mother, she could read thier son like a child read a fairy tale, she knew how he thought and could correspond in a proper fashion, but when she asked about the miko knowing better to fall for a disguise Taisho eyes opened wide, while she had a very good point this still wasn't easy for Inuyasha, and that fact had probably depressed him to that very day, to be betrayed by the woman he loved for so long, it was much like the romance that he had shared between Sesshomaru's mother.*
"That is a good question my love."

He had found himself ignoring the first question because he'd yet to admit loving Kagome to anyone, even himself. His love for Kikyou was there though, it was something all to real. That question... he didn't say anything at first, even when he listened to his father agree with it. Of course, in his heart, he couldn't expect them to understand. He didn't tell them how he was going to become a human with Kikyou, how deeply they had truly loved each other. There was no way to describe it How they had planned this perfect life together.
Though that question was an insult to him and Kikyou all at the same time. He to, had been tried tricked, and that's why he went after the jewel. He'd waited for Kikyou that very day at the Goshinboku tree. When he say her, she was armed and ready to kill him. She'd told him it was all a trick, just to lure him in, to kill him and rid the Shikon no Tama of another threat. He'd dodged that fired arrow though and left in sheer anger, betrayed. Hadn't he too learned that demons took on other forms?
"It doesn't matter," he muttered under his breath in his anger. He wouldn't, almost couldn't yell at his mother life he would have others. He didn't want to admit that he'd been blinded by this love. He got up then, and walked away from Izayoi, going right past Inu no Taisho. This wasn't something he needed to explain to them any further in his mind. It was something between he and Kikyou. Just like his father had never said why he'd left Sesshoumaru's mother for a human woman. Never said what tore them apart.

Izayoi could easily see that something more was there. The pain in her son's eyes, the sorrow, but also the love he felt for her. The moment her son stood up, so did Izayoi and followed him. Taking a hold of his arm, she turned her son towards her, knowing he would never fight her off in an agressive matter. Reaching up her sleeves fell back to reveal her soft and slener hands with which she now cupped her sons cheeks.
"You love this girl deeply, don't you?"
A soft sigh whisperd past her lips.
"When you love someone so deeply, you become blind to anything else. Even such a thing as the difference between two races. True love doesn't know any race...or gender, for some"
Izayoi halted for a moment, her words spoken slow and soft, she gazed into her son's golden eyes....so much like his father's.
"But it also makes you vunerable. People do much to destroy love, and the easiest way to do it, is to make you believe the person you loved betrayed you. Even if later you realize it wasn't true. The pain you feel at the moment you believe you have been betrayed is all blinding and consuming. It erase all rational thinking. It drives people to kill or harm themselfs, to do things they would never do otherwise. The thought of having lost that person you love is unbearable"
Tears filled her eyes for a moment, remembering something from her own past, something she had neverrevealed to her son or mate. But perhaps.... Pulling her son's face slightly down, she placed a soft kiss on his forehead and closed her eyes, tears trickling down her cheeks before she whisperd.
"When you father died...my heart died with him. You InuYasha ...were all that kept me alive after i lost him. Without you to keep me going, i would have......"
Izayoi's softly spoken words broke off, as she gazed into her son's eyes once more, part of her hoped that Inu no Taisho had not heard those words, for he might think her weak.
"Don't blame yourself...don't blame her. "

A shock ran through him when his mother had taken his arm, almost stopping him in his tracks. He was just as stubborn as she was or maybe he'd gotten his stubbornness from his father. Right now it looked like it was from her because she never gave up the way he did. Yet, his father had never given up on Izayoi when she had been killed that night one life ended and another one began. It was funny in a way, how someone could give up their life so easily to protect one he loved, and one he'd just met.
InuYasha himself didn't know if he would be able to feel that love towards a new born child. He'd never thought about it much before. Though his actions so far showed that he was rather abusive towards children. Throwing Shippou around, punching other kids in the head, barely able to tolerate any of them. There was one time, not to long ago when Kagome was gone that he had spoken to Kikyou. He'd talked to her about all of the what ifs if they had been able to live together forever. Children were a part of that oddly enough.
Izayoi's words touched him hard, and she was the only one that had ever seen him like this. That lost child who didn't understand why things always had to go wrong for him. Just because he was a half demon. This blood, this sole mixture of it was what caused all of his problems. At the same time, it was also what had led him to Kikyou. If he had been born a normal human child, he may have been killed already or would be helping some villagers around right at this moment. The possibilities were boundless.
He wanted to cry to, which was something that he didn't do very often. It was when something touched him in the way that Kikyou and Kagome did. When he was alone most of the time. "A-Arigatou gozaimasu..." It was all that he could mutter. Right now his mind was twisted with emotions that he couldn't control, that he couldn't fight against. It was almost a tragic thing that he felt this way, that he expressed this second hanyou weakness to anyone. That was aside from the night of the new moon, when he had to turn human for hours. Hours that could kill him.

Izayoi had always been a gentle soul, she could bring out the best in people. When Taisho had first meet her he was quite hard headed, when he first met izayoi Taisho knew that they couldn't mate, she was a human and he a great general, if he was to maintain the respect of his armies he had to mate with another demon. Izayoi had broken the defenses around his heart and had showed him that it race didn't matter when it came to love. What mattered was where your heart lied.
Looking upon his son, Inuyasha's features were shadowed. Taisho was certain that his son had adopted his stuborness from him. And to top it all of he had brought a child in this world that wasn't a pure demon. Inuyasha hadn't figured out that being a half demon was a strength and not a weakness. Demons were creatures filled with pride, a deadly emotion. Pride had lead many of Taisho's companions to fight wars that were unnecessary, that were fought over something trivial, to prove that one demon was stronger than another. It was always a measure of strength. The thing these demons never realized is that fighting is only half the battle. A life with nothing else but war is doomed for failure. One's strength is in his companions and lovers, its the one thing that kept Taisho going, it wasn't for land, or to show that he was the strongest demon, but because he had a family. He had a mate that he loved and cherished and two sons. Inuyasha didn't even realize how much more potential he had than his brother, simply because he cared for people, he didn't shove them aside like his brother did. While Inuyasha might be stubborn he defintely cared for his companions this much was certain. Taisho couldn't be more proud of his son he was no longer the young boy that he once was.
The struggles of the heart would strengthen Inuyasha in ways that he didn't think possible. There were certainly Demons that might possess more physical strength than Inuyasha, but his son would have something that those Demons would never have in a million years, a family who loved him for who he was. A half demon that had the heart of a whale, and armed with the Tetsaiga Inuyasha had the potential to take on Naraku without the help of his father. Taisho was certain of it.
Walking over to his son he smiled at him and gripped his shoulder tightly "Inuyasha, you make me proud my son. Struggles of the heart are never easy, they have been known to tear man asunder. You my boy will come over these obstacles and when you do, you will be stronger than you know. Take your time making a decision, and you will make the right choice. This I am certain of."
Giving him a gentle pat on the back Taisho nodded towards his son and looked towards the destruction he himself had caused.

His eyes widened at one statement. One statement that he'd longed to hear forever. Someone was proud of him. Proud of him for who he was, for even being a half demon. How could that be? Why would someone even be proud of someone like InuYasha? Sure, he'd filled himself with a false pride all these years just to boost his ego but still. There was something different when someone else said it to you. It sparked something in him, something that had been dormant all this time. It made him feel like he was truly worth something.
He'd almost not heard anything else past the first statement but it reached his ears. How could he make the right choice between Kikyou and Kagome? That would be hard but he was sure that Kagome would leave him one day when the Shikon no Tama was complete. There was no doubt in his mind about that. She always went back to her own era. Then he'd have no reason to go back there himself to see her. That would be the end of it. Then the chances were that Kikyou wouldn't be around after that either.
InuYasha shook his head slightly to get the thoughts from his mind. Now wasn't a time to think of such foolish things. He finally looked back up at his father again, a smile on his face an a shine in his eyes. He couldn't allow himself to be seen as weak anymore. That was just no longer an obtained because he had another goal in life. A goal that had been with him since the day he was born. This goal had only strengthened when he had obtained the Tetsusaiga from his father's graveyard in his eye.
His golden gaze locked on So'unga, the sword of hell. A smirk crossed his face, remembering when the sword had controlled him, turning him to almost really kill people. He'd been stronger though, never allowing such a thing to happen. His ears flickered forward as he looked his father in the eye now. This time he remembered fighting Ryuukotsusei, killing off the dragon that had helped lead to his father's death the night he was born. Although, he wouldn't have been able to have done it if his father's claw hadn't left him the opening.
So now the question was... if he was the one able to overcome this dragon, then was he really stronger than his father? Even if he was only a half demon? Although, he'd never felt that strength before. He'd let So'unga control him. He couldn't merely subdue the power of the blade the way his father did and that bothered him. He needed to get stronger, so he could surpass him. The hanyou looked back at his mother for a second smiling at her, before rising to his feet and looking back at Inu no Taisho again.
The inu hanyou stayed silent for a moment. "Fight me," he stated bluntly. He wanted to test his strength to see if he really could even lay a single scratch on his father. He'd taken Tetsusaiga to a whole new level, helping it gain abilities that it'd never had with his father. There was now the barrier shattering red Tetsusaiga, the diamond Tetsusaiga with Kongousouha, and the new dragon scaled Tetsusaiga. A smirk ran over his features. "Not here though if you agree. Outside of the castle. I'd like not to destroy mother's garden anymore than we have."

Izayoi watched the two of them, pride filling her heart, just as tears filled her eyes. But this time it was not tears of sadness, but of the joy that seemed to warm her from the inside, that seemed to open up and blossom, like a dewcoverd blossom opend it's petals to the warmth of thr morning sun. With her motherly instinct and guided by the love she felt for both od them, she knew that something had changed. There seemed to suddenly be a deeper bond and understanding between father and son, more than before.
Her lips curved into a soft smile, seeing the sparkle in her son's golden eyes and the way his ears seemed to perk up. Almost like a puppy that caught sight of his favorite toy. That comparising brought a small, soft giggle from Izayoi, and quickly she raised her sleevecoverd hand to her lips in an attempt to hold it back and hide the amusement from the two males. But soon enough her eyes became big and round at her son's words, and she quickly fell into his sentence.
"You will do no such...."
Hearing the rest of his words, that the small spar was to take place outside the palace and far from her garden, the young woman broke off and just slipped her hands into her wide kimonosleeves.
"That's better"
Izayoi remarked on her son's comment. But a small frown still remained on her face. She knew only to well how this little spar would end...... with both males filthy and perhaps even torn clothes. She shook her head slightly with a sigh. It had rained heavily during the night, and just the thought of it frustrated the young hime, which she told them.
"If you two must act like dogs who snap at each others heels, at least avoid the mudpuddles and ponds. Because if i see any mudprints on the palace floors when you two return....."
She left the rest unspoken, very certain they would get the meaning.
