It wasn't her being stubborn, or stuck on pride, it was her Duty. She died defending the Jewel, and if need be she would Die once again defending it. Handing the Jewel over now, would be taking back her oath. She couldn't do that, she couldn't allow herself to break a promise. It would ruin her purity, she wouldn't be very Pure giving power away.
At first, she was a bit shocked as he took her hand. Surprise filtering on her features as she gazed into his devilish golden gaze. She narrowed her eyes a bit, He was on to something. And there it was, his puppy dog look. She scoffed and pulled her hand away from his "Inuyasha, you know that won't work on me!" she said. What a silly fool he was if he thought that would work!
Could he not understand? For the same reason 50 years ago, she couldn't hand over the Shards to him. Not without a fight, and she was sure Inuyasha could never bring harm to her. She shook her head, and sighed once again "Inuyasha, please understand me when I say this. You know that I will never budge, To protect the Shikon no Tama is my duty. Until the Jewel is gone, I will never rest." she stated softly, hoping maybe... Just maybe he'd understand.

For the one that that he hadn't tried to take the jewel by force, she still wouldn't give it to him. That was sad and he was beginning to run out of ideas. Though he was InuYasha so any idea that he had in the first place was stupid and likely to fail anyway. He knew it was her duty to protect the jewel but it was also he and Kagome's duty to gather the shards and destroy Naraku. That had come before Kikyou was even brought back to life as a body of clay, ash, and bones.
'Well it was worth a try,' he thought to himself but more in a response to Kikyou. He wouldn't be one to just reach into her kimono and take it because that would just be wrong and he wasn't Miroku. Finally he flashed her a devilish grin with a spark in her eye, getting his face closer to hers. "If you really love me, you'll hand over your jewel fragments," he said in a cool tone. There had to be some way to get through to Kikyou. He'd figure it out too until he ran out of ideas.
Though InuYasha wasn't going to be one to give up easily and Kikyou should have known that. Even when they had met fifty years ago and he first wanted the jewel, he never gave up. She would just pin him to a tree with arrows and never finish him off. Then he would come back time and time again. This time here now, fifty years later would be no different for him. The majority of the time he always got what he wanted. That was unless Kagome said 'sit.' Though who said Kikyou's word 'beloved' wouldn't work too?

It wasn't Kikyo who brought the Jewel back, and brought terror upon the lands. It wasn't she who created the demon they fought, Naraku. No, It was his faithful Kagome. If the girl hadn't ventured to this time, things would be at peace still. Kikyo would still be dead, Inuyasha improving his power... and the rest of the Crew with their own duties. Kikyo hadn't begged to be brought back, nor did she ask to once again destroy the Jewel. Now that she was, it was once again her Duty and Responsibilty to Destroy the Shikon no Tama once more.
Kikyo once again simply shook her head, Inuyasha was to hard headed for his own good. He must know by now, she would never hand of the Jewel fragments, not willingly. "Inuyasha, do not test my Love for you over the Jewel. You won't care for the Outcome." she whispered back in a rather cool tone.
Patience was something she was magically gifted with, and thank goodness for that. Inuyasha could keep trying, he could try for days and she would never budge. It was let's just say a natural gift of hers!

Oh he wouldn't like the outcome, eh? He raised a brow at her words, curious now. "What would that outcome be," he asked her suddenly. What would she do? Send another arrow through his heart and put him to sleep for a day or two until Kagome came back and freed him? Although, doing that would put Kikyou and Kagome on even worse terms and he wondered she she really wanted that. His ears stayed pricked forward as he looked at her, still watching her. One way or another he'd get at least one of those jewel shards.
His gaze then shot back down to the Tetsusaiga for a moment. The sword was never any use when he wanted it to be. It just had to be the night of the new moon then. If Kikyou had left then he could have been the one to defeat the demon and get the jewels shards. She would have had no say in it either. He wouldn't have been the one to hand them over. Then again, why said those shards belonged to her anyway? He'd fought the demon too or at least he had tried. She went and got them when he was down. How unfair.

Kikyos eyes slowly narrowed, and a look of calm rushed over her features "I made a oath to Protect the Jewel. I Will Not Give Them to You." she whispered, emotion faded from her voice. Sure, in his Mind he would see this Oath old and silly, yet it was something that was dear to her heart. It was all she had for the Majority of her life, to protect the Jewel was her life. When she died, the Jewel died, and thanks to Kagome it was back agani.
Of course, Inuyasha would do all he could to try and take the Shards from her. Just as much as she wished to keep them safe, he wanted them to destroy Naraku. Which was her goal as well, couldn't they just stop the bickering over the Jewel, shouldn't they concentrate on what Naraku was doing? "Inuyasha, we fight for a common goal. I need the Fragments to Destroy Naraku. Perhaps we should be out finding more instead of trying to steal one anothers, huh?" she stated with a glance his direction.

Why wouldn't she just listen to him for once? This wasn't a matter of Naraku but of the jewel shards. His ears went back slightly at her words and a have sigh escaped his lips. "I will be the one to take down Naraku, no one else. That bastard is going to pay soon." His goal for just going after Naraku was still just so he could avenge Kikyou's death. He had done to much to them and he was going to be taken down. It'd either be by InuYasha's claws or with the Testsusaiga.
A fury could be seen in his eyes, a hate, a disgust. Naraku had pushed the inu hanyou over the edge to the point where it wasn't even worth laugh for the evil demon anymore. He'd messed with Miroku, Sango, and Kohaku too. Not to mention the times that he had tried to hurt Kagome. InuYasha wouldn't be one to take any of that anymore. As soon as he got a hold of Naraku, that youkai would be dead. A fist was made with his clawed hand, and the blood started to leak from it as his claws dug into the palm of his hand.

Her eyes once again softened as they gazed at the inu hanyu, she knew he suffered from the same pain as she. The anger at youkai Naraku. The one that ruined everything, that destroyed her life, and ruined his. A sigh escaped her lips as his words rushed into her ears, and she looked to the ground. The two of them would need to help one another, Naraku would perish with the help of them all.. but that needn't be spoken.
A soft delicate hand reached out and gently grasped his, realising his fist and her fingers gently ran over the wounds he'd inflicted to his palm. Though she didn't heal them, instead she felt the warm liguid beneath her fingers, and she gazed up into his golden eyes "Inuyasha... Please do this one thing for me. Watch over Kagome, if something happens to me, She will be your only hope. I have my eyes on the boy, please tell Sango he shall not be harmed." she whispered softly before her eyes turned to gaze at the rising sun.

When she'd tried to unravel his clawed hand, he wanted to stop her. He just wanted use that demonic strength of his to keep digging into his palm so he had some way to release his frustration. Yet, he was afraid that he'd harm her if he tried to resist, not wanting those claws to sink into Kikyou's own skin. He though for a second taht maybe she would try to heal his hand even though his body could heal it on its own and not leave a scar. Yet, there he saw his blood on her hand, a horrible sight.
Looking back into her eyes, he decided to keep his attention away from their hands. What did she mean if something happened to her? "Kikyou, nothing's going to happen! Don't say stuff like that!" His voice shared his concern and his frustration. He couldn't lose her again. That's why he wanted to protect her. Nothing could happen to Kikyou, nothing. "What are you planning," he then asked. If he was going to say something like that, she must have had some crazy plan. Some plan that had the potential to get her killed and out of his life again.

Slowly, she pulled her bloodied hand off of his, and looked down at the red substance across her fingertips, she had a plan. One that would either result in the death of Naraku, or herself. It was the only way she knew that would save Inuyasha from more pain. His blood soon faded from her fingers, as if her clay body absorbed it or dissolved the liguid, and her white sleeve fell across her hand as if fell to her side.
A softer smile crept upon her lips, and she didn't meet his eyes this time "Alright." it was all she could whisper, all she could muster to say. Hearing his question, her eyes slowly met his own "Nothing," she whispered. She wouldn't share it, if she did he would only interven and ruin the chances of her Defeating Naraku.

Did she really just think that he would sit there and take that? Kikyou must have been crazy! He may have been stupid sometimes but he knew the miko to well now. He knew when she was lying to him and she wasn't going to get away with it. Just the thought of losing her again made him want to throw up. Would she really put him threw that again? He'd already thought that she'd died many times already. He didn't need to face that sorrow again. He wasn't sure if he could handle it.
"Kikyou, stop lying to me and tell me," he yelled back at her. It wasn't a nice sweet calm statement as he'd spoken before. It was a furious demand. He needed to know what she was going to try and do. Those golden sunlit orbs stared back at her hard. He'd follow her forever until she told him what he was planning, even if that meant it was the only way to protect her. Kikyou should have known this by now though. InuYasha was not one to take no for an answer and normally got what he wanted.

The miko couldn't help but let a warm smile slap across her thin lips, The pale features of her face suddenly shadowed as she gazed at the ground. She didn't fear dying once again, if it meant to protect the Jewel. Of course, she wouldn't share that bit of Information with Inuyasha. She didn't plan on dying, she intended for Naraku to die. Yet if things didn't work out in her favor, it would be up to Kagome to purify the Jewel Fragments that Naraku get's ahold of.
"I plan on destroying Naraku, just as you do." so she left out a bit of information, but she did tell him what she planned to do, that was what he asked right? Her eyes closed, and her smile remained, things were slowly forming. Things she still didn't quite understand, like the New ruler Bayushi. She'd heard rumors of the Lord, perhaps she would have to pay him a visit very soon.
Her chocolate brown eyes reopened and locked onto his golden eyes "Inuyasha, I'll be alright. I promise... Just keep Kagome close. Naraku wishes us both doom, Though I can assure you I can protect myself." she whispered softly, a hand fell across his cheek and she smiled "Please do not worry."

She spoke to him like it was nothing. He still couldn't wrap his mind around it. He didn't have enough details but knew Kikyou wouldn't tell him. Why couldn't she just let him take care of Naraku and relax? That would have been the best option all around. Yet he knew she'd never allow such a thing. It was that Kikyou vibe that she gave off to let him know. So it'd have to be the same away again. He'd have to worry because not worrying was just out of the question. It always had been and always would be as long as she was away from him.
"I wish you'd trust me a little bit more... that there were no secrets," he said to her when her hand came in contact with his cheek again. There was a sad look in his eyes. If only she'd open up to him more. Yet, that would be like him having to open up to her as well. To admit to Kikyou that he did love Kagome. No, he couldn't slap her in the face like that and say it out loud . It would be wrong and heartless in his eyes.

Her brown eyes softened as they stared at him, and a even softer smile twisted the Corners of her lips into that priceless smile. It was funny, how the twos love really worked, Through anger, pain and every other emotion thrown their way. They just never gave up, they never could. It wasn't hard to figure out her lack of telling Inuyasha her plan, bothered him. But she didn't want him to be worried about her, when he should be focused on his Friends, and protecting Kagome.
Hearing his words, it nearly broke her heart, but she kept these Secrets to protect him. If he knew what she had planned, he wouldn't let her do it. He'd watch over her to much, and in the end get in the way of Killing Naraku. "Oh Inuyasha... I only do it to protect you. You wouldn't let me out of your sight otherwise." a soft laugh passed through her lips like it was nothing, like Dying was nothing to be scared of.

How could you not be afraid of death? How could you not be afraid of how it would effect the other people around you? The inu hanyou could not understand her. Why? He lived this way, in the fear of that death. In the fear that he couldn't protect the ones that he loved and that he couldn't take down Naraku. Then there was a time that he was so selfish to agree to go with Kikyou to the underworld in death. Yet Kagome had awoken him, and brought him back to consciousness. How could he do that to Kagome?
Protect him? How was she protecting him if she wouldn't tell him? Even telling him that if she did explain her plan that he couldn't let her out of his sight made him worry even more. Maybe he should have turned around just then and watched her. Maybe he should have just dropped this whole search for the Shikon no Tama and follow her. He knew that he couldn't though. That was the problem with allowing your heart to be torn in two. His ears flattened slightly as he continued to look at her, the confusion in his eyes.
"I don't want to lose you again. I couldn't take it," he confessed to her. A life and a world without Kikyou was just out of the question. Although even if they had stayed together, they still would have been parted by death. One of them would have died before the other weather he was a human, a hanyou, or a demon. There was no eternal life for either of them. That was something that he wasn't ready to accept just yet. "I can't live without you Kikyou. I need you in my life." His voice was lost.

If she was to die, it wouldn't be in vain. Naraku would either be defeated, or weakened to the point he would be easily killed. That would leave Inuyasha alive, and well. He could protect Kagome, perhaps spend his life with her. That would let the world once again fall calm. That is why she didn't fear death, She was to powerful for a Youkai to defeat her without severly weakening themselves in the process.
Her eyes once again filled with emotion, his words struck her heart and her hand slipped from his cheek. "Inuyasha, a world without you isn't worth protecting. I don't want to loose you, and that is why I must go alone. If something was to happen to you, I would surely perish. Kagome needs you.." she whispered softly.
It was never really hard to tell that Inuyasha loved Kagome too. She could see it in his eyes when she showed up. The pain, the longing to be with her as well as Kikyo. A soft sigh rattled her chest, and her hands cupped one another in her lap. Spending all this time with him was making her weak, making her want nothing more then to spend her time with him. She would never be fully real, never fully alive, yet she could never die. Eventually there would come a time, if something happened to Inuyasha she would let herself wither and turn to dust.
But she could never bring another life into this world, she would never be able to have her soul once again, to feel the warmth of another against her flesh. It was all just a fantasy, something she dreamed of. Her gaze once again fell shadowed as her eyes closed, it was all so troubling. She sat like that for what seemed like a minute or two, before her eyes shifted back upon his features "Inuyasha, Please know that I do love you, more then anything in this entire world. Yet, so does Kagome. There will come a day when you'll have to choose, You can't protect and love both of us forever." just as much as the words pained her to say, she knew they would hurt him.
